    The 3.5 stars on this rating at the time of this review (November 11th, 2019) is undeserved.  This pub has AMAZING food and atmosphere.  It's so friendly my CHILDREN and I have made this an annual tradition on our trips to London for the last three years.

    Yes, you have to order at the bar.
    No, the staff you expect to ignore you aren't giving bad service.  They're just seriously busy because this is some of the best pub food you're ever going to have. They're friendly, attentive as much as they can be, and your food will likely get to your table before you get your massive drink orders filled (we ordered smoothies - the bane of any bartender due to the labor involved - and the food was done before we got those carried over).

    Their food quality is consistently surprising and out of character for what I would expect from anywhere in the U.S. Their Sunday "Pork Roasties" is probably one of the best things I've put in my mouth (flavor, texture, and omgoodness) and their chicken wings defy the flavor you would expect from this traditional pub fare. Perfectly seasoned and smoked, not overpowered by the sauce drizzled on top.

    Home-cooked plating adds to the charm and the menu variety is ridiculous.  Having run my own restaurant before, I would not even consider tackling the food selection they have, but almost everything on the menu is craving-quality for someone who goes there.

    The ambience of historic London can't save this pub from its awful food and leaky roof.

    ==What I Loved==
    The architecture of this bar is quite charming. You'll feel like you're drinking beer in one of the oldest bars in London (if that's what you're in to).

    Lots of televisions with optimal viewing angles make this a solid choice to view sporting events.

    ==What I Hated==
    The pub food is among the worst I've ever had which is an impressive feat. I got the sharer appetizer which comes with nachos, chicken tenders and wings, sausage and fries. The nachos were actually just tortilla chips. The sausage was cold. The chicken wings and tenders were brown from over-cooking and dry.

    The roof leaks on some of the tables when it's raining. Other reviews mention this. Having rain drip into your beer through the roof is probably one of the grossest things I've ever experienced.

    One of my top 3
    Favorite pubs in London I never miss it .. the red wine gravy is magical the traditional foods are amazing and the up beat vibe is part of the reason I love it too.
    Conveniently located near tower bridge a nice walk

    Having interacted with three staff members and received our food, we were faced with a manager wagging his finger in our faces and demand that we leave immediately due to having our dog. When I asked if we could eat our food I was told we would have to go outside (in the rain) and that it was our own fault for not asking him. He continued to shout at us for a little longer while we tried to gather our plates, glasses, coat and bag. My dog continued to sit happily under the table.

    I accept that some pubs do not allow dogs, but with three staff members saying nothing then to be treated in this way demonstrates very poor standards of customer service.

    You can find plenty of charming pubs in London. This wasn't one of them. We where not served proper pints and they tried overcharging us several times for drinks. We stopped to avoid the rain; however, we still got wet with the leaking ceilings. Oh well.
